Curcumin is an ancient drug derived from turmeric and has been found to exhibit potent anticancer properties without clearl mechanisms of action. This 3D printed molecular model shows that curcumin is a highly potent and selective inhibitor of dual-specificity tyrosine-regulated kinase 2 (DYRK2), a  cancer causing kinase implicated in triple-negative breast cancer and multiple myeloma.

Model Description
This is a 3D printed protein model of DYRK2 (dual-specificity tyrosine-regulated kinase 2) bound by Curcumin. This model visualizes the surface properties of DYRK2 by visualizing the protein's atomic temperature, or bFactor. (multi-colored blue, darker colors cool, brighter colors warm) by showcasing its hydrophobicity. Curcumin (colored by atom type) is tucked into the ATP binding pocket of DRYK2. Binding Curcumin tightly are DYRK2 residues Asp368 (green), Glu266 (blue), Lys251 (red). Held in place at the other end of Curcumin are the hydrophobic (red) DRYK2 residues mentioned below. The Active Loop (a-loop) is colored yellow and in its active state.
